Matthew 9:2 - And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.

Understanding

(Link)
I always despised this verse. In my Christian school I was told that the reason I was disabled was because I or my parents were sinners. It was my fault I was sick. When I read it today I read it with a different understanding. Jesus wasn't blaming the man for his ilness he was reminding him that there were greater things. He reminded him as my motto has always been that he isn't living for rewards in this life but for the next. Jesus was bringing him a message of hope in even his darkest of times.
